Rights

Ensuring social, economic, cultural and political rights of pastoral women. Reclaiming their status as decision maker in the family by reviving, maintaining and sustaining the roles of being the primary actor and working equally with men and women for the same.

Empower

Empowering women to regain their identity and dignity through collective engagement for developing and brushing up their traditional skills as well as learning newer livelihoods skills. Further, those women will be identified and recognized who have been living the pastoralism in the extreme situation, and to showcase them to the world that sustenance is possible.

Change/Transform

PWA envisions to support the pastoral women to transform them to keep pace with the changes, however, keeping our traditions, culture and traditional livelihoods and way of life intact, as those pave the path towards sustainable development.

Leadership

To develop the leadership of pastoral women in private and public spheres. This is done by enabling them to be at leadership roles within households, at Panchayati Raj Institutional levels, other public avenues such as Caste Panchayats, Milk Cooperatives, Gopalak Mandlis etc.

Working on key social issues and practices such as lack of education, practice of child marriage, adolescent girls and reproductive child health.

Innovation

PWA believes in doing different things and doing things differently. One of the focuses of PWA will be to introduce, try and test innovations especially towards building good practices. PWA will take a leading role in protecting and saving the common property resources and claiming pastoral women’s rights over its’ access and control.

Mobilise

PWA will mobilise the pastoral women and girls from village to state level with the aim to raising their collective voices and taking collective actions. Once mobilized, the collective can act as a pressure group within the community, society and for the government to enact pastoral women friendly policies and acts.
