Valonu’s core mission as a venture of Pastoral Women’s Alliance is to promote traditional livelihood through livestock products such as milk, ghee (clarified butter), mava (condensed milk), and buttermilk; conserve and promote women’s indigenous pastoral knowledge, and economically empowerment pastoralist women. Valonu supports pastoralist livelihoods by connecting them directly to urban buyers and helping them to develop and market value-added products. Valonu focuses especially on supporting migrating women and families who are sheep and goat herders. Products include sheep, goat and cow ghee, mawa, and various medicinal and cosmetic goods.
